Ushomi
is a 1998 Dufour 50 Classic Grande Croisiere. This version is built
for blue water cruising and includes a high powered Volvo Penta
engine, deep keel (lead), extra diesel and large water capacity.
She is rigged as a masthead Bermudan sloop with
furling foresail and mainsail slab reefing – controlled from
the cockpit. Rigging was upgraded in December 2004. Deck instruments
include compass, wind direction, wind speed, log, depth, trip, wheel
position, and the all important sea temperature reading.

The nav station is equipped with laptop, gps, chart plotter, dsc/vhf
and ssb radio, weather fax, irridium satellite comms, e-mail and
custom switch panel.
The saloon dining table seats eight in comfort
and also offers flat screen home cinema entertainment. The table
lowers and provides a double bed for unexpected guests. There is
extensive book shelving behind the starboard saloon seating.
The
galley has three gas burner rings, oven, electric microwave with
grill and convection oven, refrigerator, twin sinks
and good storage for crockery, drinking vessels, utensils and food.
The berths are comfortable with good quality linen, clothing storage,
ventilation and climate control.
All
three heads have teak loo seats and showers. Each has bathroom cupboards,
shelving, a big mirror and is also equipped with a hairdryer and
power point for electric razors/toothbrushes. The work room carries
a washing machine, freezer, air conditioning unit and work bench
with tools. It also offers clothes drying facilities.
Safety
equipment includes e-pirb, vhf/dsc, gas sniffer and automatic bilge
pump and alarm. Overall, Ushomi meets the MCA/DOT Safety and Coding
requirements for Category 02 vessels. Guests need to provide their
own medical insurance.
